Back
We're back. We've retooled a bit, and done some thinking about what we want this blog to be. After having a pretty loose focus [like a three-year-old in a sandbox with 30 toys], we've decided we really want to focus on the public face of institutional philanthropy and private foundations. What do they do well and what can they do better, particularly when it comes to advocating for the issues they care about? Of course, we'll retain the right to occasionally divert to other related topics. Thanks to those of you who payed attention to Philanthropybeat ver.1. We hope the next iteration will be a meaningful reentry into the ongoing dialogue about philanthropy occuring in blogworld.

Yes, nice to have you back. Please don't write anymore novels, okay? :)

One strong vote for you to continue writing your novel. Whatever happened to Valerie Crane and Alan English?

Valerie Crane went to work for the CIA's secret program to spy on would be society queen terrorists. She was inadvertantly outed when the FBI, desperate for a "victory" in the war on terror, announced indictments of all the women on the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for plotting to blow up a Manhatten Saks Fifth Avenue store. The case promptly fell apart [as they inevitably do], but the FBI chief's reference to our "well-endowed agent" during the indictment announcement ended Crane's foray into law enforcement. She lives on a farm outside Boise and designs Native American-themed jewelry.
Alan English was forced to retire when it was learned that all of his discretionary funding budget was being doled out to organizations run by women with whom he'd had affairs. He is a consultant to the Philanthropy Roundtable. Trackbacks
